It started with the rumour of a new life
I quit my job and packed up for the long ride
Aware that I was leaving all security
To wander in the wilderness and dare to dream
Burning every bridge that was behind of me, oh well
I came here with no papers like a dropout
A pilgrimage, a voyage on the Mayflower
Determined not to miss an opportunity
To clutch at every straw I saw in front of me
And claim I was the ruler of my destiny, oh well
It’s no surprise I finally fell
Many more have travelled on this high wire
Told the best then sold into the worst crimes
And though I was attracted by the thrill of it
It’s not as if I bought into a counterfeit
The only person beckoning towards the pit was me
Some have been distracted by the sidelines
Torn between adventure and the old times
But let me take a moment to explain my pose;
I’d rather lose it all than bear the heavy load
Of never setting foot out of my home 'til I grow old
That's why I set out on this road
I will find my way through
Somehow I always do

To be safe in my home,
Roof and four walls around me.
All these dreams I’ve been cradling.
The thoughts I’ve been entertaining
To be settling down,
Forcing these sounds from my lips.
No more words.
Are you happy up above there?
Is there something I could do?

I said I’d always sing for you.
But there’s no point in getting angry at you,
‘cos there is nothing I can change.
All these plans I’ve been making,
The effort I have been taking
To be walking this path,

Or you could sink into your seat, pretend you never changed your mind

But letting go of what you’re owning when you’re holding on so tight
Could be the dawning of your calling or your water into wine
Live like the truth, it is all you wanted to do
Or follow suit when there is no-one forcing you to
One of those breeds hope, there is joy when water’s renewed
You know the things that have already been
Form the ones that haven’t yet
Can you give me an example of a seed
That wasn’t born from death?
There is an order we conform to making cycles out of time
And any pride that keeps you stationary ought to step aside
